Petition rockets to 4,200

14 June 2007

Maltese residents and foreign tourists have highlighted their shock at the destruction of Ramla l-Hamra as the petition calling for the annulment of the Mepa permit, which paves the way for 23 high-class villas in the picturesque Gozitan bay.

Until 1930 (Thursday), the 'Save Ramla' petition was signed by 4,200 persons. Despite the fact that the website was launched on Sunday, thousands have visited the Save Ramla website and voiced their disapproval of the controversial Mepa permit.

Sources close to the environmental NGOs told that the possibility of a national protest to condemn the destruction of Ramla l-Hamra is not excluded.
