Should Leonard Callus resign as a member of the Mepa board or, for that matter, from the Office of the Prime Minister? Or is resignation not part of the culture of our powerful masters?

There is a more serious matter though. Our Prime Minister would appear to have endorsed the project by allowing Mr Callus, who is a member of his own staff, as well as being a member of the Mepa board, to accompany the developers to a meeting at Mepa. With this kind of saintly pressure from above, what would a Mepa board member do? Similarly, would a mere Mepa employee dare to refuse a person in the doubly powerful position of Mr Callus, despite the almost certain promptings of his conscience?

In the light of the above, where does the government's recently-announced policy on ethics lie?
