Request for revocation of Ramla permits - Friday, August 3, 2007
Mepa said yesterday it has received a request for the revocation of two permits, PA5138/02 (outline) and PA7902/05 (full development), relating to the re-development of the former Ulysses Lodge in Ramla l-Hamra.

The requests are being assessed in line with article 39A of the Development Planning Act, Mepa said.

Meanwhile, the Save Ramla Committee (SRC) said it will be posting on its website later this week two technical reports by architect Lino Bianco on the permit for development at Ramla l-Hamra.

The reports call on Mepa to revoke and annul both the outline permit and the full permit it issued for the development of villas at a site overlooking Ramla Bay.

The SRC, led by Carmen Bajada, a resident and a Xaghra local councillor, said it had requested environment planning consultant and architect Mr Bianco to investigate both the outline and full permits and submit his findings to Mepa.

Mr Bianco filed the two technical reports over a fortnight ago requesting Mepa to revoke the outline permit and not to send the full permit to the applicant.

The committee said the reports include evidence beyond reasonable doubt that the outline permit was issued for an application that included information that was "false, misleading or incorrect" and that the full permit, without Mepa being aware, was issued for the construction of villas on a public road.
