What Lorry Sant refused, MEPA gave and withdrew - http://www.independent.com.mt
A previous application for a development in Ramla l-Hamra had been refused by none other than (former Labour minister) Lorry Sant, not usually known for his love of the unspoilt environment.

This little detail was not revealed in the past when controversy raged about the application for the development of villas in Ramla l-Hamra, which, after having found parts of the application that were based on unsound legal ownership basis, the MEPA board has now withdrawn.

Even more to the point, as an Flimkien ghal Ambjent Ahjar statement says (see page 7) four separate applications had recently been refused in the vicinity of this site, including one for the construction of a farmer’s 12 square metres tool room. In this case, the refusal said this was an “unacceptable urban development in the middle of the countryside!”
